Gingerbread Apple Crumble

Ingredients
  

  • 4 cups peeled and sliced apples
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
  • 1 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 1/2 cup melted unsalted butter

Method
 

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Grease an 8-inch baking dish.
  3. Add the peeled and sliced apples to a large mixing bowl.
  4. Drizzle the apples with lemon juice and toss to coat.
  5. Sprinkle the granulated sugar and cinnamon over the apples.
  6. Stir the apples until the sugar and cinnamon are evenly combined.
  7. Pour the apple mixture into the prepared baking dish and spread it evenly.
  8. Add the rolled oats to a separate mixing bowl.
  9. Add the brown sugar to the oats.
  10. Add the flour to the oat mixture.
  11. Add the ground ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and salt.
  12. Stir the dry ingredients together until fully combined.
  13. Pour the molasses over the dry mixture.
  14. Add the melted butter to the bowl.
  15. Stir until the topping becomes evenly moistened and crumbly.
  16. Spoon the crumble mixture over the apples in an even layer.
  17. Gently press the topping down so it sticks together slightly.
  18. Place the baking dish in the oven.
  19. Bake for 40 minutes or until the topping is deep golden brown and the apples are bubbling.
  20. Remove the crumble from the oven and let it cool for at least 10 minutes before serving.
